What an amazing, historic little bar. Such a cool vibe with the neon-in-glass and the old school signage. Plus the service from the bartenders was unmatched. As an out-of-towner, I asked about what spots we should check out after, and I was given a handwritten list. Incredible. Though it was hard to leave as this spot oozes charm.

Great spot for hanging out with friends and shooting pool. Three pool tables that are 1.50/game and the whole bar is cash only, but a great atmosphere and cheap drinks.
We have been to the Crystal many many times in then 30 years or so. Great music, fun people, awesome atmosphere. Stopped in to meet. Saw some great photos of bands of rock n roll past. Hey to shannon curfman. Who will be the next up and coming musician to play the crystal.

Just stopped in to kill a bit of time on a road trip. Was looking for a cool place in the heart of Madison. It was last call, so perfect timing lol...but the bartenders were amazing and the vibe was super chill. We had so much fun chatting waiting out the downpour... that I forgot it was my birthday as of midnight! So, thank you Sam, and the other bartender and folk. I'd been having a sh!rty day/night...this was a nice break from it all. 100% will stop in again.

It's The Crystal - a staple of the Eastside of Madison. I see some reviews have stated that barkeeps are not attentive, but they're hit or miss. We had a male & a female tending on the Friday we visited & the male was unfriendly, but the female, while not overly friendly, was attentive to us. It was a busy night even tho' no band was playing. It's a neighborhood bar & there are frequent patrons, so don't feel left out if you're not as noticed as the regulars. *recommend for it's "institutional" value!*
